Seattle, Washington

Seattle is the northern most port-city in the Western USA.  With a population of 3.4 million people in the metro area, Seattle is home to major companies such as Starbucks and Boeing, as well as home to many influential people like Bill Gates and Paul Allen (founders of Microsoft).  Seattle is also know for its contributions to the music industry with performers like Jimi Hendrix and Nirvana.  The first thing most people think of about the city is the “Space Needle” build for the 21st Century Expo in the mid 20th century.  Seattle surprisingly had much more humble beginnings.  It was originally a timber town in the mid 19th century, and became famous for its clothing and fishing during the Klondike Gold Rush in 1893. Thought it is important to note that between October and May, Seattle is cloudy nearly every day of every week.
